
 

Note: If you are on a local area network (LAN), with a
network card installed, and change your TCP/IP configuration, you may create a conflict
which interrupts your computer's connection to your LAN. Please ask your network
administrator for assistance before editing your TCP/IP configuration. Before you edit
your TCP/IP configuration, you will need your Windows 95/98 CD-ROM.
- From your desktop, double-click My Computer.
- Double-click Control Panel.
- Double-click Network.
- Remove all the installed protocols by selecting the network component and
clicking Remove.
Windows95 users continue to step 5.
Windows98 users goto step 12

Windows95
- Click Add, then double-click Adapter.

The Select Network Adapters screen appears.
Under Manufactures, scroll down and click on Microsoft.
Under Network Adapters, Select Dial-Up Adapter.

Click OK.
Click Add, then double click Protocol.

The Select Network Protocol screen appears.
Under Manufactures, click on Microsoft.
Under Network Protocols, click on TCP/IP.

Click OK.
Click on IPX/SPX Compatible Protocol -> Dial-Up Adapter and
click Remove.
Click on NetBEUI -> Dial-Up Adapter and click Remove.
There will be 3 components left:
Client for Microsoft Windows
Dial-Up Adapter
TCP/IP -> Dial-Up Adapter

Click OK.
More files will be copied from your Windows95 CD-ROM.
You will be prompted to restart your computer. Click Yes.

Windows98
Click Add, then double-click Client.

The Select Network Client screen appears.
Under Manufactures, click on Microsoft.
Under Network Adapters, Select Client for Microsoft Networks.

Click OK.
That will install 3 components:
Client for Microsoft Windows
Dial-Up Adapter
TCP/IP -> Dial-Up Adapter

Click OK.
More files will be copied from your Windows 98 CD-ROM.
You will be prompted to restart your computer. Click Yes.

**Note: When your computer restarts, you may be asked to enter your username
and password for Windows Networking. For username, enter
your first name. Leave the password field blank and click OK. The next
window asks you to verify your password. Leave everything blank and click OK.
Windows will not prompt you for the username password again
